Notes

Came to US at age of 14 (1867?).Took sailboat from Germany to US (possibly
to Georgia). Story was written up in Brooklyn Eagle years later. Possibly
from Hamburg. Died under care of Little Sisters of the Poor - was there 3
years. She was confirmed on April 28, 1867 in Stolzenau, a town southwest
of Hannover. I contacted the pastor of the Evangelical Church in Stolzenau
on 22-Dec-1993, and he will check the baptism in the church books and send
a typed copy to me along with any other information regarding the family.
He says that quite a few Konemann's are in the town even today. The
telephone number for the church is 011-49-5761-2040.
I viewed and photocopied the original documents, including baptismal and
confirmation certificates. Possession of the originals was maintained by
Dot Trauerts. It is unknown what became of them after her death.
