Notes

Came to US in 1882; rest of family followed in 1895.Naturalized. Lived in
North Lebanon Twnp., Lebanon, PA. Had servant named Margaret Tyrell and a
boarder named Robert Cassidy. Name on 1900 census listed as FlanNIgan. See
1900 census, T1068, reel 167, ED 137, sheet 8, line 72. One of the male
children was called 'Pinchy'
According to his death certificate, he was born in March of 1855, but this
date is probably in error - he would have been 15 when he married and the
date conflicts with the Census ages.
According to Cathedral Cemetery in Scranton, he is buried in a single
grave. No information exists at the Cemetery except for his name and plot.
Burial information prior to 1929 is extremely sparce.
His relationship was validated with Sr. Mary Chantal of the Little Sisters
of the Poor in Scranton. The records of the Maloney Home (administered by
the Sisters) show that the Charles Flanagan referred to on the death
certificate had a wife named Catherine McManus, who survived him. This
agrees with the names available on his children's death certificates.
